Dancing In The Rain

Kevin's Notes
This ditty began as an instrumental celebration and was going to have some lightning and thunder in the background and be sort of a "party in God's presence" song. After it was recorded, I was listening to the basic tracks in my truck and I began to hear words forming in my fevered little cranium. So, a new song was written that "just happened" to fit like a hand in a glove to the chord progression. So I begged GWOT to do this additional song (which they graciously said yes to) and we got Darren Clarke to do slide guitar, Terry to do B3 and we were rolling!

Musically, we had no plan for this, so we pieced it together to sound like an old gospel piece with the organ and bass up front and choir-ish BGVs. If Whitney Houston were dead, she'd roll over in her grave but boy was it fun! We did this song in church one night and the congregation went nuts celebrating God's favor! Unfortunately, the walking bass is not something Chris Bengs or I can do so we don't do it regularly in church. The ending thunder sounds are intended to be God's answer to our prayers from part A of the song.

Lyrics
O You opened the heavens and you sent Your rain.
You broke the famine when You sent Your rain.
Here in the wilderness You sent Your rain.
Ended our barrenness, Lord with Your rain.

Thank you Lord, thank you Lord.
Thank you Lord, thank you Lord. (2x)

So we come to you, Father and we celebrate,
Your love's unending and Your power is great.
You're sending water to this thirsty land,
So our feet are dancing and we're clapping our hands.
We give you glory, Lord again and again,
You're sending living water
And we're dancin', dancin' in the rain!

Thank You, Lord, thank You, Lord.
