Falling On Our Knees

Kevin's Notes
Up to about five years ago, I disliked most blues music. I didn't like 7th chords and all the stuff that goes with blues music, namely depression! But, as my musical horizons have expanded, I have come to enjoy the various musical expressions including blues. (I seriously doubt if I will ever like country music though!)

I don't recall the inspiration for this song but I've been told it sounds like Eric Clapton's Layla. It is such a short song, one verse and a chorus, that I felt I had to write a second verse. But my wife assured me that one verse was enough and would be easier to remember for the congregation.

The basic tracks flew by on this one with Chris Bengs on bass and Russ Sechler on drums. We added the Chris Kohler crunch electric soon after. We put the classic B3 organ in and thought we'd do a slide guitar solo with Chris, but he recommended Darren Clarke from the Burn Vineyard in Arroyo Grande. I called Darren and he was willing to play with us. A few weeks later, he laid down a slide track all through the song including a solo. But, being the budding blues connoisseur, I wanted a regular guitar solo, so Chris came back in and did that at another time.

For me, the icing on the cake was having God's Women of Treasure (Lydia Haley, Charlotte Magee, and Geanell Robinson) sing the backup vocals. I gave them freedom to make up their own vocal parts and to vary from what I wrote and they did a great job! By the way, they have a web site at www.weaveaweb.com/gwot if you want to contact them and look into their ministry. They are super ladies who really love the Lord and can SING!

The whole idea of God's glory covering the earth like the waters cover the sea is amazing to just think about. The earth is about 75% water. Can you imagine God's glory filling 75% of the earth? Amazing….Lord, let it be!

Lyrics
King of glory, God of all peace,
We come before You, humbly on our knees.
We ask for Your mercy, we ask for more grace.
We pray for the nations, we stand in their place.
Would You forgive our sins? And revive us again?
We long for the day when the world will see the glory of God!

So we're falling on our knees. Would you hear our pleas?
We're calling out to you. Shouting out to you.
Let your glory fill the earth, Like the waters cover the sea...
O Lord, let it be.
