You're So Good To Me

Kevin's Notes
I started out wanting to write a song about salvation from Psalm 40. I got that funky E7 chord from We Believe It and did the D7-D#7-E7 walk thing and thought that it would sound cool to do a song with it. I don't know what musical style this song is but it is kind of a blues / Texas / gospel thing. The songs sounds like a combination of ZZ Top's La Grange and Sting's She's Too Good For Me with some other stuff thrown in.

In the studio, we did the Steve Goetz / Mark Koch drums/bass combo again with me on the acoustic and lead vocals. Cindy Dirlam did the first two harmonies and Alysha Bengs did the melody on the chorus. We wanted a big sound on the "Thank You" section so we used the group vocalists again (Kathy and Randy Sechler, Kathryn Turner, and Toni Tuller).

Terry Lawless did the B3 and Darren Clarke did the tasty slide guitar with Brad Bisquera playing three different harmonicas to cover the three key range of the song. (Hey, I wanted it to be interesting!) The hardest part was the vocal bend going from the D chord back to the E7 progression. Lots of re-takes on that one for all singers involved!

Lyrics
Once I was lost, could not be found,
And I was standing on shaky ground.
Once I was blind, I could not see,
Your words of truth staring right back at me.
Once I was dead, cold in the grave.
I did not know of Your power to save.

But then You found me, put solid rock under my feet.
You opened my eyes, I saw who You are,
You raised me to life, put a song in my heart
a song of high praise to you God!

You're so good to me. You're so good to me.
You're so good to me. You're so good to me. (repeat)

I wanna say thank You. Thank You, Lord.
Thank You, thank You Lord! Wanna say thank You Lord.
