Kevin's Notes
Once again on the inspiration of The Message this time from Psalm 9:1-2, I wrote both of the verses in just a few minutes. The bridge ("once I was lost...") was written as part of a separate song in a different key. Somehow, I stitched the two songs together and they worked with the connecting chord run which I have recently been told is the same bass line as a Casey and The Sunshine Band song. (Scary!)

Musically, I was looking for the old 60's Motown sound with the heavy bass and the "skank" guitar and a "dirty" saxophone. Chris Bengs was the thumpy bassist with Russ Sechler on the drums and Chris Kohler on the electric. Terry Lawless did the B3 and the sax and God's Women of Treasure sang here too with Geanell Robinson doing all of the echoing of my vocals while Cindy Dirlam harmonized with me.

I am not entirely sure why, but my kids and the kids in our church really like this song. It is definitely my least favorite on the CD but who am I to judge what my kids like? At least it's not rap or grunge or death metal!

Lyrics
I'll sing it. I'll shout it,
tell the whole world all about it.
I'm singing to you Most High God.
I'm singing to you Most High God.

Once I was lost in the darkness,
and I was full of fear.
But I've found the light of Your glory,
And I'm filled with joy ... as I see...
my enemies ... disappear. So ... I'll (sing it)

I'm dancing, I'm clapping,
rejoicing, and laughing.
I'm thanking You with my whole heart,
I'm thanking You with my whole heart.
